It is widely accepted that gin was first recorded in use in the Dutch war of independence which lasted 80 years. Soldiers would drink it for its calming effects before battle, from which the term Dutch Courage originated. In homage to this the engraved barcode reads Dutch Courage, and the arrayed silver arms represent each decade of the war. The arms are ruthenium plated and each set with a black diamond to reference the deep colour of the juniper berry. These decorative elements also aid the user in a functional capacity, acting as measuring levels. The top of the bar is a double shot on gin and the top of the 8 arms is a generous serving of tonic.
